Photoxpress_7666336Course Outline

The course explores the key arable crops grown in the UK and the impact of climatic conditions and soil types on yield. Delegates will learn to recognise different crops at different stages during their growth cycle. For each crop type delegates will learn about the farming calendar including details on cultivations, sowing, fertiliser practice, nutrient deficiency symptoms and harvesting.

By the end of the course delegates should be more familiar with identifying crops and the harvested grains in the field and  the production cycle of each crop.

The course also includes a brief overview of the extent of arable farming in the UK, typical arable rotations and a summary of the key locations where different crops are grown.
The crops covered in the course include:

  • Winter Wheat

This course has been designed for delegates who want to understand the basics of arable cropping, but with limited knowledge of the arable sector and for students who wish to sit FACTS exams.
