Making Fertiliser Recommendations using RB209

Fertiliser Planning Training for Arable and Grassland: Learn how to generate recommendations using the AHDB RB209 Fertiliser Manual.

Course Outline

This two day course will cover the principles of nutrient management and fertiliser use, with the first day focusing on making recommendations for arable crops and the second day on making recommendations for grassland.

The course format will include a mix of trainer led and practical sessions where delegates will complete fertiliser planning exercises.

The course will be of interest to those working towards a FACTS qualification, newly qualified or trainee consultants, agronomists, sales representatives, environmental advisors and farmers.

This training has been set up to cover the requirements of the Fertiliser Adviser Certification and Training Scheme and will be of particular interest to those wanting to pass the examination as the course will include generating recommendations as expected in the FACTS exam. Each course is a great opportunity to practice these skills with guidance from a BASIS approved FACTS trainer.

Programme

Day 1: The principles of nutrient management and fertiliser use, soil acidity and liming materials, the use of organic maures, sludges and industrial wastes, Soil Nitrogen Supply (SNS) and calculating requirements for Arable Crops.

Day 2: Introduction and background to  RB209 Grassland, new RB209 grassland calculations, fertiliser planning scenario and multiple choice questions.Harvesting by a lake
